Career Update

Published on July 1, 2025

Picture this. My mother visited the bank for days to check on the remittance. “Has it arrived yet?” she’d ask, worry creasing her brow. Days would pass. Sometimes a week. That remittance she desperately needed? It was lost somewhere in the maze of traditional banking.

Fast forward to today: 60 seconds. That’s all it takes now.

From Waiting Rooms to Real Time

I’ve seen the change firsthand, from my mother’s wait to watching funds appear instantly on my phone. That moment of relief, felt by millions of families around the world, is what motivates me every morning.

This isn’t just about moving money. It’s about:

  • The construction worker sending earnings home before his kids go to bed hungry.
  • The entrepreneur receiving investment funds that can’t wait for “3-5 business days”.
  • The grandmother getting medical payments when every hour counts.

Every line of code I write carries these stories. Every feature we ship dismantles another barrier between people and their financial freedom.

Finding Your Ikigai in Code

The Japanese concept of ikigai - your reason for being - isn’t something you find in a LinkedIn course. It finds you when you’re knee-deep in solving problems that actually matter. Mine revealed itself in the intersection of:

  • What I love: Building elegant solutions to complex problems
  • What I’m good at: Writing code that scales across continents
  • What the world needs: Financial systems that don’t discriminate by zip code
  • What pays: A career in fintech (thankfully!)

Level Up! 🎉

Today marks a new chapter: Senior Software Engineer II at Wise.

But honestly, the goal hasn’t changed. It’s about making finance instant, convenient, transparent, and eventually free for everyone who’s ever had to choose between paying fees and paying bills. Here’s to the next million lives we’ll impact. Here’s to building bridges where walls once stood.

The revolution will be fintech.

What’s your ikigai?
